Need Help Continuing the QCC Dance!

We are seeking new board members and volunteers!  At the end of June 2017, three of our board members will move on to other projects, and we need folks to join us so that the dance series can continue!

Think about it: are you willing to attend 4-6 meetings a year and help open and close a few dances?  Would you like to know that what you are doing enables this 40 year old dance series to continue providing a wonderful experience for everyone who comes through the door?

We welcome any with the interest and time to serve!  We are especially seeking anyone willing to take on the duties of a treasurer for the organization, as well as someone willing to coordinate volunteers for the monthly dance.  Please contact volunteers@queencitycontras.org if you are interested, or speak to the person at the front table at an upcoming dance!

Decisions, decisions . . .

At the recent QCC board meeting we had a number of big decisions to make regarding our location and finances.  Here’s what we agreed:

Starting at our July dance (July 10), admission will be increasing to $9.  We have kept our price stable for many years, and with recent increases in both rent and event insurance, it’s time to raise our admission to reflect that.  We feel that this is still a very reasonable price for a glorious evening of live music, dance instruction and the chance to come together as a community. We encourage dancers who are concerned about entry fees to contact us about volunteering–we would love to provide the dancing experience in exchange for some help with tasks we need covered.

We will remain at Shelburne Town Hall through summer 2016.  In years past we have moved from one location to the next throughout the year.  At this point, we feel that the Shelburne Town Hall is the nicest dance space available to us and that the continuity of holding the dance in the same location from month to month makes it easier for folks to find us.

We also bid farewell to long time board member Peter Johnson, and wished him well in his upcoming travels.  Anyone reading this who is interested in taking his place on the board should send an email to volunteers@queencitycontras.org.  We’d love to have your help!

Call for New Board Members and Volunteers

February 2015

We’re excited for the beginning of 2015, and another year of dancing in our wonderful community. And we need your help to make it happen!

The Queen City Contras board is looking for some new board members as we bid goodbye to a few folks who have served their terms and are moving on to other projects.  Are you interested in helping make this dance series happen?  Board members meet a few times of year to keep the series organized, make decisions about where dances are held, and coordinate volunteers to help make the dances run smoothly.  Please be in touch if you’d like to join us!

Not interested in being on the board, but maybe ready to help out by arriving early to set up, or sitting a shift at the door to welcome dancers and make change?  We could really use your help.

Please email volunteers@queencitycontras.org  to let us know.
