The Queen City Contra Dance has been a fixture in the Burlington area for over thirty years. The dance is organized and supported by a lively community of dancers, musicians and callers.
Our Mission & Community Values
Queen City Contras is a Burlington-based non-profit that provides fun, high-quality contra dancing with live music and calling to sustain a longstanding New England tradition. We are members of the Country Song and Dance Society (CDSS). The following values are shared by the QCC Organizing Committee:
- Contra dancing is a fun, social, and healthy activity that is open to individuals and families of all ages.
- The QCC dance is welcoming to beginners and is attractive to more experienced dancers.
- Contra dancing builds and maintains community among dancers and performers.
Our Volunteers
A committee of volunteers organizes the dance and meets approximately every other month. A larger community of volunteers help to set up the dance, clean up afterwards, collect admission, host out-of-town performers, and spread the word about what’s happening.
